Ettersburg Apples
I've honestly never heard of Greenmantle Nursery, but I'm really impressed with the descriptions of Albert Etter's apples, as well as their crab apple page. It's good to see Etter getting a bit of his due. I'd like to find some one selling his strawberries as well.
Anybody ever seen 'Alaska'? I never have...I'm just curious if it really is as truly white as the picture on that page shows.

I was just struck by the color in the photo, but of course that's years old and not from an era when color reproduction of photos was at it's most accurate.
Are you growing any of the other Etter apples?
Say P. S., would you ever want to start some fruits in our yard? Or just offer advice. Faith can tell you that we have plenty of space. We are open to your sugestons.

T=Trademarked Cultivar
I'd considered trying additional trademarked Etter apples (a few of the red-fleshed ones specifically), but Greenmantle won't sell more than two trees of any trademarked cultivar to anyone and also requires a non-propagation agreement. This pretty much puts the damper on these particular apples being grown for anything more than a novelty.
Greenmantle does have a wonderful collection of hard to find apples, many of which aren't even available through the huge apple collection that's part of Geneva/Cornell in NY. They do charge a pretty penny for them though.
I live in Germany. Greenmantle still doesn't have an emailaddress. Does anyone of you know if there's any chance for me to get Grenadine and Rubaiyat here in Germany? Or should I just write them a letter and ask for some twigs, come february?
