The L.A. Times just ran an article by Ann Herold on avocados, featuring a remarkably good overview of the cultivars available, something rare in the mainstream press. It's even got a little sidebar on planting your own avocado.

I always find it encouraging to see fruit articles with a little depth to them in the newspaper, but it's depressingly rare. The L.A. Times and the New York Times are the only ones I read that seem to do it with any regularity.
